Fishing and Boating in Killingly

The many rivers, lakes, and reservoirs in the Town of Killingly offer plenty of opportunities for boating and fishing.

  • Old Furnace State Park allows non-motorized boating in Ross Pond. The park has a boat ramp in the parking lot between Ross Pond and Half Hill Pond.

  • There is a canoe launch at the southern end of the Quinebaug River Trail, south of Route 6. The canoe launch is behind the Little League baseball fields. You can follow the river south to Plainfield.

  • The Town of Pomfret has a boat launch on the Quinebaug River where it intersects Route 101. You can follow the river north to Putnam. Or you can follow the river for a short distance south to a dam in Rogers.

  • Other reservoirs in the area with boat launches include West Thompson Lake and Quaddick Reservoir in Thompson. See the Connecticut DEP web site for directions and licensing information.

    • ​Five Mile River (5000 fish)

    • Quinebaug River (900 fish)

    • Snake Meadow Brook (300 fish)

    • Wauregan Reservoir/Quinebaug Pond (2200 fish)
